Bitcoin whale sends Julian Assange 8 BTC to pay for private jet
WikiLeaks co-founder Julian Assange has arrived back in his native Australia debt-free after eight Bitcoins worth roughly $500,000 were sent to a fundraiser covering the costs of his private jet.
As reported by Alistair Milne, the CIO of Altana Digital Currency Fund, an anonymous donor sent 8.0717 Bitcoins worth over $494,000 to an address listed on the Free Julian Assange site.
This is in addition to the £345,992 ($437,925) sent to the Crowdfunder set up by Julian’s wife, Stella. She and Julian needed $520,000 to pay off the Australian government for providing the charter flight that took him to Saipan and then on to Australia.
Assange pleaded guilty on Tuesday to one count of espionage in a Saipan court as part of a plea deal. He has since landed back in Australia a free man.

Crypto enthusiasts yesterday suggested that Stella accept more crypto-friendly options for donation. Soon after, she shared the crypto address on the Free Julian Assange site.
Accepted donation methods included BTC, ETH, BCH, LTC, DASH, ZCASH, DOGE, XRP, AND MONERO. Altogether, they have raised over $931,000 for the jet, not including sums from these other addresses.
The mystery donator also sent roughly 10.175 bitcoin to another address in the same transaction. The news even attracted Andrew Tate, who took it upon himself to reply to Milne’s post with a present emoji, acting as a vague indication that he could be the donator.
